PLAYING TABOO

During the process of learning a new language it is very common to see how students do not feel really confident when using it to express themselves. However, when they have to use it to play a game everything changes.

From time to time students are asked to play some speaking games so they feel they can do it free of criticism or jokes about what they say, and the results are amazingly positive. Students voluntarily come out and talk in front of their whole class; they seem to do it with no effort at all, whereas they feel a bit inhibited with other activities that involve oral interaction.

They all participate, laugh and have fun without realizing they are so motivated that they use the English language not only for academic purposes or to talk to their teachers, but also to communicate with their friends.
