Learning through cooking can be really fun and motivating for students, and that is exactly what our 1st Year Bachillerato pupils experienced last week when cooking some Valentine’s sweets and cakes.
They were asked to write and then cook a recipe which could be appropriate for Valentine’s Day, regarding the closeness of that festivity, and they immediately got on with it. The results were amazing, since they developed really good recipes practicing how to write and follow orders in English, and amply succeeded when doing the tough task of cooking those tasty sweets.
Furthermore, some of them lived lovely moments discovering traditional and familiar recipes from their parents, and who knows? Maybe this year they did not contribute to the increasingly commercialized holiday with material presents, but by giving sweet and homemade gifts to their lovers. Who would not like to receive such a Valentine’s gift?
